Azek Trimboards

The flexibility and length you can go with this product is only limited by your imagination. It is a high quality cellular PVC trim board that comes in a myraid of sizes, but only one color. It can be painted though (Sherwin-Williams VinylSafe™ is recommended).

The downside to this product is the price but if you compare using cedar and taking into consideration that you will be repainting in 5-6 years anyway as opposed to Azek's 25 year warranty using the Sherwin-Williams VinylSafe™ paint it makes sense to absorb the upfront cost . Although if white is what you are looking for then it is fine as is with maybe a bit of touch up paint to cover the fasteners.

Azek is nice for arches too because if warmed it can be bent to shape, or there are mills that will bend Azek to custom specifications. One thing to keep in mind though is that the woodgrained side will loose its woodgrain once it is heated and bent, but with using a transition block between the two pieces it is hardly noticeable.

Rustic and smooth surface finishes are available to complement all housing exterior designs. Applications include trim, fascia, soffits, window and door surrounds. Azek Trim Board comes with a 25 year warranty.

For me I like to specify the Azek not only for its maintenance free characteristics but for the clean look and feel it adds to a home architecturally, and the long term benefits of a maintenance free exterior to the homeowner are just icing on the cake.

I was surfing the net and I came across a company that uses this product to make garage doors. I though it was pretty cool. Here is a link if you want to see them. If you want to make a statement with your garage door this is the way to go. This company also does wonderous woodwork with other materials too. Impressive for garage doors.
