Tri Level Home Remodel (extensive) The question was; How do we add a second story to a Tri-level home, and not have it look like a second story was added to a Tri-level home? It was tricky. The homeowner came up with the original concept for what we did here and I took it from there. Their family had definately outgrown their existing house so this project was more than just a cosmetic alteration and small addition. Essentially they are doubling the living square footage of what they have now. With large remodels like this there always comes a point where the option of just tearing down and rebuilding would be more cost effective. This project was very close to that being a reality. Fortunately we were able to overcome all the design issues and come up with a floor plan and elevation that they were happy with and gave them the much needed space they were looking for. When this project is finished it will be difficult to tell what this house started out as. Which was the goal. I particularly like how the upstairs master bedroom has a viewout opening that will overlook the new rear cathederal ceiling great room.
