Pricing for designing a home, like the homes themselves, will vary. There are many factors that play a role in determining the price for design work. Below you will find a guideline that I use in figuring out prices for design work. These have proven to be fairly accurate, although they can change, and are given mostly as a guideline. Your particular project may have variables that these prices do not take into account.

Single Story Custom Homes

Custom single story homes under 1450 Sqft.
 These start at $975
Custom single story homes 1450-1800 Sqft. These start at $1,200.
Custom single story homes 1800-2500 Sqft. These start at $1,600.

Two Story Custom Homes

Custom 2 story homes under 1,450 Sqft.
 These start at $1,200.
Custom 2 story homes 1450-1800 Sqft.
 These start at $1,600.
Custom 2 story homes 1800-2500 Sqft.
 These start at $1,800.
Custom 2 story homes 2500+ Sqft.
 These start at $2,200.
Homes that have a bridge on the second floor
 Add $300
Bonus room detail (over garage) Add $200
   

Additions, Remodels, and Small Cottages

Additions

These start at $500,  and are job specific. Additions can be adding two feet to an existing room, or doubling the size of your home alltogether. These are looked at on a case by case basis, but usually start in the neighborhood of $4-500 for a typical 20'x20' addition, provided there is no extensive remodeling that would require a complete model of the existing home.

Extensive remodel to existing home. In situations like these, the pricing could be more than designing a new home. This is because two plans may need to be created. One for the existing home and one showing all the changes to be made. This isn't always the case, so I quote these on an individual basis depending on what would be required.
Cottages Cottages on one hand can either be structures that are relatively simple, or they can be multistory works of art. So, these are handled on a case by case basis.

Please note: These drawings are prepared by a Professional Building Designer, not a licensed architect or engineer. Please verify ALL dimensions prior to any construction. Most cases of residential construction under 3,500 sq ft do not require any seals or stamps on any of the drawings, however, if needed, engineer seals are available, but at an additional charge. Your township office will have information regarding any requirements for these.

Also note I do not provide any electrical,plumbing, or other mechanical detail on any of my drawings, due to the fact that most mechanical contractors in this area do not use them anyway. If you need these sheets prepared, they are an additional charge, but again, they are rarely necessary.
